Physical & Chemical Properties

Oxygen is a highly reactive oxidizing gas that supports combustion but is not flammable itself. At standard conditions, it is colorless, odorless and slightly denser than air (1.429g/L). It condenses to a pale blue liquid at -183℃ and solidifies at -218.4℃.

Chemically, oxygen reacts with most elements and compounds, especially at high temperatures. It is slightly soluble in water (30mL/L at 20℃) and more soluble in organic solvents. Liquid oxygen exhibits strong paramagnetic properties.
