Physical and Chemical Properties

Anhydrous hydrogen chloride gas is extremely easy to absorb moisture in the air, it will quickly combine with water vapor to form hydrochloric acid mist, showing obvious white smoke phenomenon. It has extremely high solubility in water, and the aqueous solution is strong corrosive hydrochloric acid. Under dry sealed storage environment, the gas has stable chemical properties, not easy to deteriorate. It is easy to react with most active metals, so special anti-corrosion cylinders and pipeline materials must be used in storage and use. It has good solubility in various organic solvents, and is often used as acidic catalyst and chlorinating agent in organic synthesis reaction.
