Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive noble gas. It is colorless, odorless, and tasteless. The most commonly referenced isotope is radon-222, which is a decay product of radium-226 in the uranium-238 decay chain.

Radon-222 has a half-life of approximately 3.82 days and emits alpha particles during decay. Due to its radioactive nature, radon is strictly controlled and is supplied only for authorized scientific research, detector calibration, environmental monitoring equipment testing, and specialized laboratory applications.
